Venture Capital and Private Equity

Corporate Finance Connections is a network of Advisers, Lawyers Financiers and Specialists involved with delivering successful Acquisitions, Sales, MBOs, MBIs and other corporate finance transactions on a daily basis.

Venture Capital backed companies are some of the fastest growing in the UK. Venture capital investments totalled several billion pounds a year in approximately 1,600 investments.

Venture capital companies look to invest in high growth cash generative companies to fund growth, acquisitions, MBOs, MBIs, turnarounds and recoveries.

Venture capital firms currently have large amounts of funds to invest but have limited team sizes and great demand for their funds. Consequently, selecting the right funds and approaching them correctly is key.

Our members know the investors and deal with them on a regular basis. They can help you achieve a successful investment.

Use the searches on the right to find; advisers, lawyers, finance providers, specialists, articles, publications, events, news and information to assist you in obtaining venture capital.

Introduction to Venture Capital

Venture capital funds a whole range of transactions from small seed corn start ups through to institutional buy-outs of 100s of millions of pounds.

You may often see the term Private Equity. This is often used to refer to that part of venture capital focussed on funding management Buy-outs, Management Buy-ins and Institutional Buy-outs.

You why ask why do I need help to approach a venture capitalist? Why don't I just pick a name out of the BVCA directory.

The reason for getting advice is that, unfortunately, raising venture capital is never that simple. Getting the right investment partner at the right price in the right investment structure is key to making venture capital work for you. Because of the complexities of some deals, venture capitalists prefer that applicants have an adviser.

Funds often specialise in particular sectors, regions and investment sizes. The emergence of regional and specialist funds has gone a long way to reducing the problems of raising equity below £1m for many companies.

Venture capitalists are not without their critics although much of this criticism is unfair. Those seeking funds should remember that on many occasions when venture capitalists have done well out of an investment, the company or investor they invested in has done better.
